Functional Capacity Evaluations are an efficient
process used to evaluate an employee's ability to return to
work, at what capacity to return to work and with what limitations.
The evaluations also can be used to correctly match a new
employee's physical capacity with specific jobs, minimizing
on-the-job work injuries, lost time, and expensive employee
replacement.
These intensive evaluations can be performed
at the workplace using Body Mechaniques' portable unit, thereby,
keeping the employee at the job site and eliminating expensive
travel time. Reports are completed within 24 to 48 hours and
electronic transfer of the report is available over the Internet.

BMI uses a nationally-acclaimed evaluation
system that is identified as the most efficient and effective
program in determining a client's functional abilities. The
evaluation focuses on major physical tolerances and abilities
regarding:
- Musculoskeletal strength
- Endurance
- Speed/dexterity
- Flexibility/range of motion
- Functional ability
- Effort being given
- Symptom magnification
Using scientific evaluation, our therapists
determine consistency of effort and symptom magnification,
plus assess body mechanics and safe lifting ability. Functional
Capacity Evaluations are appropriate when:
- An employee appears to be medically stable but remains
on disability
- An employee's symptoms appear to have increased
- An employee's rehabilitation has reached a plateau
- An employee's ability to perform a specific job must be
evaluated
- An employee has been assigned a new position with different
physical requirements
