Looking After Your Health
Functional Capacity Evaluations are an efficient process used to evaluate an employee’s ability to return to work, at what capacity to return to work, and with what limitations. The evaluations also can be used to correctly match a new employee’s physical capacity with specific jobs, minimizing on-the-job work injuries, lost time, and expensive employee replacement.
We have put together a portable testing unit to make testing convenient at any location. This feature makes it easy to test clients at their work facility or at any one of our convenient clinical locations in North Carolina. Travel time necessary for the client to get to a testing site can be minimized or even eliminated. Reports are completed within 48 hours and electronic transfer of the report is available via email or fax.
Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
The evaluation focuses on major physical tolerances and abilities regarding:
Musculoskeletal strength
Endurance
Speed/dexterity
Flexibility/range of motion
Functional ability including lifting capacity
Effort being given
Symptom magnification
Using scientific evaluation, our therapists determine consistency of effort and symptom magnification, plus assess body mechanics and safe lifting ability.
Functional Capacity Evaluations are appropriate when:
An employee appears to be medically stable but remains on disability or restricted duty
An employee's symptoms appear to have increased
An employee's rehabilitation has reached a plateau
An employee's ability to perform a specific job must be evaluated
An employee has been assigned a new position with different physical requirements
